WARRENSBURG, MO – Mules Baseball will officially dedicate the new artificial playing
surface at Crane Stadium/Tompkins Field in a pregame ceremony before the Mules take
on Pittsburg State on Friday, March 4. Game time for the Mules' 2016 home opener is
set for 2 p.m.
The new synthetic playing surface was made possible by a gift from Jim Crane, ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½
alumnus and owner of the Houston Astros.
Crane, along with ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ President Chuck Ambrose and ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ Director of Athletics Jerry
Hughes, will take part in a pregame ceremony to dedicate the new field, which bears
the name of Crane's coach while at ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½, Robert N. Tompkins. Crane will also throw
out a ceremonial first pitch.
